Ghangaria is a small hamlet situated in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, serving as the basecamp for trekkers en route to the Valley of Flowers National Park and Hemkund Sahib. This scenic village is nestled at an altitude of approximately 3,050 meters above sea level and is surrounded by lush greenery and the towering Himalayas. The area is only accessible by foot or pony from Govindghat, adding to its remote charm. Ghangaria remains open from May to October, after which it becomes inaccessible due to heavy snowfall. The village provides basic accommodation and dining facilities to trekkers and pilgrims. It is an ideal place for nature lovers and those seeking spiritual solace. The region is rich in biodiversity, with numerous alpine flowers and endangered species such as the Asiatic black bear and the blue sheep. Ghangaria is also an important transit point for Sikhs and Hindus on their pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib, a revered Sikh Gurudwara, and the sacred Lakshman temple respectively.
