Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, located in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India, is an ancient and one of the holiest shrines of Lord Shiva. The temple is an important pilgrimage site, being the last or twelfth Jyotirlinga enshrined in the annals of Hindu mythology. It is situated at a village called Verul, which lies at a close proximity to the Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its spectacular rock-cut architecture and sculptures. The current structure was rebuilt in the 18th century by Ahilyabai Holkar, who was a devout and notable Hindu queen of the Maratha Malwa kingdom. The temple is constructed in a red and black stone and showcases exquisite carvings and architectural beauty reminiscent of the medieval era. The inner sanctum houses the revered lingam, around which devotees perform prayers and rituals. Grishneshwar is not only a spiritual center but also a confluence of art, culture, and heritage, attracting thousands of pilgrims and tourists worldwide.
