Gyuto Monastery is a significant monastery located in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India. Known for its practice of the tantric meditation, study, and ritual arts of Tibetan Buddhism, it is the residence of the Karmapa - the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage. The monastery was founded in 1959 by the followers of the late Gyuto Abbot Khensur Jetsun Kunga Dhondup. They fled Tibet along with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This monastery is a tranquil place that offers a serene environment for monks and visitors alike. The architecture of the monastery is beautiful and provides a glimpse into traditional Tibetan design. One of the main attractions of the monastery is the daily chanting session of the monks, which is a profound spiritual experience. The sound of their collective, harmonic chanting resonates through the hall, providing an atmosphere of peace and introspection.
