The Dhauladhar Range is a spectacular subrange of the Himalayas located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is renowned for its dramatic and jagged mountain peaks that rise gracefully above the Kangra Valley and cast their shadow over the town of Dharamshala. The highest peak in the Dhauladhar Range is the Hanuman Ji Ka Tiba, or 'White Mountain,' reaching approximately 5,639 meters above sea level. This mountain range is characterized by its granite formations and steep vertical rise. Unlike the greater Himalayas, which are composed of limestone and dolomite, the Dhauladhar Range is made of a unique greywacke slate. The beauty of these mountains lies in their snow-capped summits, lush green meadows, and the myriad of streams that flow through the valleys. Trekkers and adventure enthusiasts flock here to explore the numerous trails, including the famous Triund trek, which offers a panoramic view of the Dhauladhar Range on one side and the Kangra valley on the other. The range also forms a picturesque backdrop for the Dalai Lama's residence and the Tsuglagkhang Complex at McLeod Ganj.
