Type of destination: Mountain/Peak
Hiunchuli Peak, situated in the Annapurna range of the Himalayas in Nepal, is recognized for its breathtaking natural beauty and challenging treks. At an elevation of 6,441 meters (21,132 feet), it is one of the lesser-known peaks, often overshadowed by its famous neighbors Annapurna and Machapuchare. Despite this, Hiunchuli offers a captivating experience for mountaineers looking for a less crowded climbing environment. Due to its remote location and difficult access routes, it presents climbers with a challenging adventure. The peak has distinct south and northeast faces, with the south face being particularly prone to avalanches, making it a daunting climb. Hiunchuli was first ascended in 1971, and since then, it has attracted adventure enthusiasts from around the world. The surrounding region is rich in cultural diversity, with various ethnic groups residing in the area, including the Gurungs. The area also forms part of the Annapurna Sanctuary, a conservation zone known for its biodiversity, including many rare species of flora and fauna.
