Type of destination: Waterfall
Ideal visit duration: 1-2 hours
Devi's Fall, also known as Patale Chhango, is a mesmerizing waterfall located in the touristic city of Pokhara, Nepal. Its waters seemingly disappear into an underground tunnel after reaching the bottom. According to local legend, the name Devi’s Fall derives from a tragic event involving a woman named Devi, who supposedly fell into the pit to her death. The waterfall has now become a stunning attraction for both local and international tourists. The area surrounding the waterfall is well-developed with walkways, viewing platforms, and gardens, allowing visitors to safely enjoy the roar and spray of the falling water. The underground water tunnel that the waterfall feeds into eventually re-emerges several hundred meters away from the fall, and visitors can also experience Gupteshwor Cave, which is just across the road and is associated with the waters of Devi's Fall. The water for the falls comes from the Phewa Lake, which flows down the Seti River and eventually plummets over the cliffs to form this natural wonder.
