Type of destination: Natural Attraction
Ideal visit duration: 2-3 hours
Begnas Lake, situated in the Pokhara Valley, is the second largest of the eight lakes in Pokhara, Nepal. It lies in the Kaski District, approximately 15 kilometers east of Pokhara city. The lake is a freshwater basin encompassing an area of about 3 square kilometers and is a prominent destination for both local and international tourists. Begnas Lake offers a serene environment and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the majestic Annapurna mountain range. Unlike the busier Phewa Lake, Begnas presents a more tranquil and less commercialized experience. Visitors can engage in activities such as boating, fishing, and swimming. The nearby area is suitable for short treks, bird watching, and experiencing local rural life. A number of resorts and guesthouses dot the shores, providing accommodations with a view. The lake also supports irrigation and fisheries in the region. The best time to visit is during the autumn and spring when the sky is clear and the views are unobstructed.
