Best Time To Visit Kamleshwar Dam (Sasan Gir) In 2026 - 2027

Visit Kamleshwar Dam in Sasan Gir

Located in the heart of the Sasan Gir National Park in Gujarat, India, Kamleshwar Dam is a picturesque destination famed for its stunning reservoir and the diverse wildlife it supports. The best time to visit is during the post-monsoon months, from October to March. This period is ideal as the weather is pleasantly cool, ranging from 10°C to 28°C, and the park's lush vegetation flourishes, providing a beautiful backdrop for sightseeing and wildlife photography. The monsoon season, from June to September, usually leads to heavy rainfall which can restrict movements within the park and sometimes even cause the closure of the dam to visitors.

The winter months, especially December and January, are perfect for spotting an array of wildlife that thrives around the dam's reservoir due to the reduced foliage density, thus improving visibility. Migratory birds make their way to the region during this time, enriching the bio-diversity. Moreover, the water level in the reservoir stabilizes post-monsoon, which makes boating activities more feasible and enjoyable. However, it is essential to check with local authorities or book guided tours in advance as the national park which hosts the Kamleshwar Dam has specific visiting hours and may require permits for entry.
