Kanha Tiger Reserve, located in the heartlands of India, Madhya Pradesh, is a picturesque expanse of wilderness that stretches over 940 square kilometers and ranks among the premier wildlife habitats of the world. Established in 1955 and later expanded and designated as a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger in 1973, it boasts a significant population of Royal Bengal Tigers along with numerous other species of flora and fauna. The reserve's topography is varied, with lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows, and ravines. It was also the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling's famous novel 'The Jungle Book'. The park offers a unique diversity in wildlife and is recognized for its conservation programs, including the preservation of the rare Barasingha (Swamp Deer). Kanha's landscape is characterized by the central highland plateau, which is surrounded by gentle slopes and the meandering streams of the Banjar and Halon rivers, creating an idyllic location for a rich tapestry of ecosystems.
