Best Time To Visit Kolaba Fort (Alibaug) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Kolaba Fort, Alibaug

Located off the coast of the coastal town Alibaug in Maharashtra, India, Kolaba Fort is a popular historical and tourist attraction. The fort is accessible on foot during low tide from the Alibaug beach, which makes the timing of your visit a crucial factor. The best time to visit Kolaba Fort is during the winter months, which span from November to February. During this period, the weather in Alibaug is pleasant, with cooler temperatures and minimal humidity, making the exploration of the fort comfortable. The winter season also means the sea is calmer and the low tides more predictable, allowing tourists to walk to the fort without the need for a boat.

Another reason to visit during winter is to avoid the monsoon season, which is from June to September. Heavy rains can make the sea rough and the region around the fort waterlogged, sometimes preventing access to the fort altogether. Summers, from March to May, can be quite hot in Alibaug with temperatures rising significantly, which might not be ideal for some visitors to explore the open structure of the fort under the strong sun. Additionally, winter mornings tend to have clearer skies, offering spectacular views of the sunrise against the fort's silhouette—a sight many photographers look forward to capturing.
