Best Time To Visit Kuching (Malaysia) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Kuching, Malaysia

Kuching, located on the island of Borneo in Malaysia, has a tropical rainforest climate, which means it is generally hot and humid throughout the year with a generous amount of rainfall. The best time to visit Kuching is typically during the dry season, which runs from June to August. During these months, the weather is relatively drier than at other times of the year, allowing travelers to explore the city and surrounding areas more comfortably. The temperatures during this period are generally around 23°C to 32°C (73°F to 89°F), which is warm but enjoyable, especially for outdoor activities such as trekking the national parks or visiting the beautiful Bako National Park just outside Kuching.

However, if you are interested in experiencing the local culture at its most vibrant, consider planning your trip around the Rainforest World Music Festival, which usually takes place around July or August. This internationally renowned festival attracts musicians and visitors from all over the world and is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy live performances in an exotic setting. Moreover, if you prefer a less crowded period, the months of September to November might be favorable despite the higher chance of rainfall. Kuching’s rain usually comes in short, intense bursts, so it’s still possible to enjoy your trip with appropriate planning for the occasional downpours. Keep in mind that the wet season from November to February brings heavier rainfall and might not be ideal for outdoor exploration.
