Best Time To Visit Laitlum Canyons (Shillong) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Laitlum Canyons, Shillong, Meghalaya, India

The ideal time to visit the breathtaking Laitlum Canyons is during the post-monsoon months from October to May. During this period, the weather is most favorable as the skies are clear and the panoramic vistas of the canyon are unobstructed by the mist that is common during the monsoon season. The post-monsoon season also showcases the lush green landscape in its most vibrant state following the substantial rainfall of the preceding months. Tourists can enjoy comfortable temperatures ranging from 12°C to 20°C which are perfect for trekking, sightseeing, and experiencing outdoor activities without the hindrance of rain or the excessive heat and humidity seen in the peak of summer.

Specifically, the months of November and April offer the most picturesque scenes, as you get to witness the transitional beauty of the seasons. In November, the rejuvenated greenery after the rains sets a perfect background for photography, making it a photographer’s paradise. Meanwhile, April stands out with the blooming of the unique flora of Meghalaya, and the comfortable weather before the onset of the pre-monsoon showers in late May. It's important to note that mornings are typically the best time for views before clouds roll in during the afternoon. Therefore, travelers are advised to plan their visits accordingly to get the most magnificent and clear views of the canyons and surrounding valleys.
