Food History of Lukla, Nepal

Lukla, located in the Solukhumbu District of Nepal, is a small town that serves as the gateway to Mount Everest. The food in Lukla is greatly influenced by the traditional cuisine of the Sherpas, the indigenous people of this region, along with influences from Tibetan and other Nepalese ethnic cuisines. The diet here is primarily designed to cater to the high-energy needs of trekkers and mountaineers.

The staple foods in Lukla include barley, wheat, maize, and potatoes, often converted into hearty meals like stews and dumplings.
