Mayo College is a prestigious boys-only independent boarding school in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. Founded in 1875 by Richard Bourke, 6th Earl of Mayo, who was the Viceroy of India from 1869 to 1872, the school is one of the oldest public boarding schools in India. It is spread across a lush green campus of 187 acres, which emulates an architecture combining traditional Indian as well as Gothic revival styles, reflective of its rich heritage. With its imposing main building, known as the 'Main Block', which houses administrative offices, and a stunning dining hall, the edifice is a classic example of royal architecture. The school has an enviable record in academics and sports, with extensive facilities and coaching in various disciplines. It also houses the Danmal Mathur Museum within its premises, exhibiting antiques and a natural history collection. As a historical landmark and an institution that has contributed significantly to the education landscape of India, Mayo College remains a prominent feature of Ajmer's identity.
