Ana Sagar Lake is an artificial lake located in the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan, India. It was built by Arnoraja, the grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan, in 1135 -1150 AD and is named after him. Spread over 13 Kilometres, the lake is the largest in Ajmer. Surrounding the lake, there are Daulat Bagh Gardens and an island, which is accessible by boat or water scooter. The Lake gets its water from the river Luni, and by the canals fed from the nearby hills. An added attraction close to the lake is the pavilion built by Shah Jahan, which offers a magnificent view of the lake and the city. During summer, the water level goes down significantly, giving a chance to spend time on the dry lake bed. Over the years, the lake has been a part of the city's history and culture and offers a picturesque sight, especially at sunset.
