From Colombo

• By Car: The journey from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya typically takes about 5–6 hours. Drive along the Colombo - Kandy Road (A1) and then proceed to Nuwara Eliya via the A7 highway.
• By Bus: There are direct buses from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya or you can take a bus to Kandy and then transfer to another bus to Nuwara Eliya.
• By Train: You can take the scenic train from Colombo to Nanu Oya, the nearest station to Nuwara Eliya. From Nanu Oya, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach the town center.

From Kandy

• By Car: The drive from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya takes about 2–3 hours via the A1 and then A7 highways.
• By Bus: Regular buses are available from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, offering a budget-friendly option.
• By Train: The train journey from Kandy to Nanu Oya is famously picturesque, after which you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to Nuwara Eliya.

Once in Nuwara Eliya

Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach Moon Plains. The site is located about 6km from the town center. Entrance to the plains is at the Sandathenna, and you may require a 4x4 vehicle to ascend the rough terrain. These can be arranged at the entrance.
