Best Time To Visit Mount Batur (Bali) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Mount Batur, Bali, Indonesia

Mount Batur in Bali is a popular destination for trekking and watching the sunrise, and the best time to visit is generally during the drier months which span from April to October. During this period, the weather is less humid, the skies are clearer, and there is a smaller chance of rainfall which can otherwise make the trek slippery and hazardous. The mornings tendentially offer stunning clear views of the surrounding landscapes, with the sunrise between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM being a particularly magical time. Early risers are rewarded with the breathtaking sight of the sun emerging over the horizon as they stand on the summit of this sacred volcano.

For those intending to climb Mount Batur, it's advisable to start the trek early in the morning, around 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM, to ensure you reach the summit in time for sunrise. Aside from the preferable weather conditions, the dry season also provides an opportunity for a comfortable trek as the paths are reliably dry and stable. However, if you prefer a less crowded experience, consider going on a weekday or during the shoulder months of April or September, when the influx of tourists is generally lower. Despite the season, it's essential to bring appropriate gear, such as a good pair of walking shoes, a jacket for the pre-dawn chill, and enough water to stay hydrated throughout the hike.
