Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu temples located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. This temple complex is a sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images, and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred river. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath is regarded as the national deity of Nepal. The main temple of Pashupatinath is a building with a bunk roof and a golden spire. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting thousands of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the main temple, but the complex and the surrounding areas are accessible to all visitors. The temple is also known for its association with the Hindu practice of open-air cremation that takes place along the ghats of Bagmati River. It is a cultural and spiritual hub encapsulating the essence of Hinduism in Nepal and an epitome of religious tolerance and harmony.
