Prakasam Barrage, stretching across the Krishna River in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, is a vital irrigation structure that has become an iconic landmark. Built between 1954 and 1957, the barrage was named after the late Tanguturi Prakasam, the first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It serves a pivotal role in agriculture by irrigating over 1.2 million acres of land, helping in water supply and preventing floods. This engineering marvel is also a scenic spot, offering panoramic views of the river and the cityscape, which is especially striking during sunrise and sunset. With verdant parks and recreational spaces nearby, it provides a serene escape from city life. The barrage is a testament to the region's hydraulic expertise and stands as a symbol of human ingenuity harmoniously integrated with the natural environment.

Dazzling.
Glittering and dazzling lights in the evening are heavenly, at the time of my visit there are not many crowds. The mountain peaks just behind the Barage add aesthetic depth. It's an engineering marvel..

Good to see with the lights on
The view of the barrage is excellent from the Kanakadurga temple in the evenings. Can get some good clicks.
