Rankala Lake is an iconic water body situated in the historical city of Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Spanning around the scenic lake is the picturesque Chhatrapati Pramila Raje park, named after the Kolhapur princess. The lake is rumored to be linked directly to a well in Panhala fort. This freshwater lake has a deep connection with the Maratha Empire's history and serves as a spot for leisure and recreational activities in the city. The lake's periphery is well-developed and includes a footpath, sitting areas, horse rides, and food stalls, catering to the needs of visitors seeking relaxation or a family outing. The lake is also known for its stunning sunsets and the serene atmosphere. The adjacent garden and the Shalini Palace, which adds to the historical charm of the lake, make it a must-visit location for both history buffs and nature enthusiasts. Over the years, Rankala Lake has also become a habitat for various bird species, making it a good spot for bird-watching.

Not impressed
This lake is Ok, other than some prestigious temples , there is not much to see in Kolhapur. The lake is one of the other attractions in the city but you will find better maintained lakes/dams in Pune..
