Best Time To Visit Sasan Gir (Gujarat) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Sasan Gir, Gujarat, India

The ideal time to visit Sasan Gir, which is renowned for the majestic Asiatic lion, is between the months of October and March. This period is characterized by pleasant weather conditions, which make wildlife sightings and safaris more enjoyable. The park remains closed during the monsoon months from mid-June to mid-October for regeneration and upkeeping purposes. The winter months, particularly from December to February, are cool and comfortable, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C, providing an optimal climate for not just game drives but also for exploring the surrounding attractions at ease.

In the post-monsoon period, starting October, the park reopens when the greenery is still fresh. The chances of wildlife sightings, particularly of the Asiatic lions, increase during the winter months as the animals are more active in the cooler temperatures. Early morning safaris can be particularly rewarding during this time. However, the peak season also means more tourists, so booking your safari and accommodation in advance is recommended for a smoother experience. Summers, from April to June, are hot with temperatures rising up to 40°C, which could be challenging for some tourists, but it provides an excellent opportunity for wildlife photography and sighting as animals often come out in search of water.
