Sidhpur Stepwell, also known as Rani ki Vav, is an intricately constructed stepwell situated in the town of Patan, in Gujarat, India. It was built in the 11th century as a memorial to a king by his widowed queen. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most famous stepwells in Gujarat, showcasing the peak of craftsmen's ability in stepwell construction. The stepwell is divided into seven levels of stairs with sculptural panels of high artistic quality. More than 500 principal sculptures and over a thousand minor ones combine religious, mythological and secular imagery, often referencing literary works. The fourth level is the deepest and includes a tank with a 30-meter water level. Rani ki Vav was built in the Maru-Gurjara architectural style with an east-west orientation. The intricate relief work and statuary depict Vishnu's ten incarnations, along with other Hindu gods, goddesses, and their attendants.
