Traveling to Star Mosque (Tara Masjid) in Dhaka, Bangladesh

The Star Mosque, also known as Tara Masjid, is a historic mosque located in the Armanitola area of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. Here is how you can reach this destination:

By Air

• If you are traveling internationally, you will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. From the airport, you can take a taxi, a ridesharing service like Uber or Pathao, or an airport shuttle to get to the city center, which is approximately 20 kilometers away.

By Road

• Public Bus: Dhaka has a comprehensive public bus system. Buses that stop near Star Mosque include routes that go towards Gulistan or Sayedabad bus terminals. Since the mosque is a well-known destination, you can ask the bus staff to let you know when you are nearby.
• Taxi/Ridesharing: Taxis and ridesharing services are widely available throughout Dhaka, and they offer a more comfortable journey to the Star Mosque. Make sure the taxi is metered or fares for ridesharing are agreed upon in advance.
• Auto-Rickshaw: Auto-rickshaws (CNG) are a popular mode of transportation for shorter distances within the city. They can be hailed directly from the street and can weave through traffic, potentially reducing travel time.

By Foot

• If you are staying in the old part of Dhaka or nearby, you can explore the area on foot. The old city's streets are vibrant and packed with history, and Star Mosque is within walking distance from other attractions such as Lalbagh Fort and Dhakeshwari Temple. Be sure to have a map or GPS service at hand, as the winding streets can be confusing.

Important Tips:

• Dress Modestly: As the Star Mosque is a place of worship, visitors are advised to dress conservatively out of respect for local customs.
• Prayer Times: The mosque will be busier during Islamic prayer times, particularly on Fridays. Plan your visit accordingly if you wish to avoid these times.
• Guided Tour: Consider hiring a local guide who can not only provide directions but also share the history and significance of Star Mosque and surrounding areas.
