Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on a small peninsula on the East side of West Lake, is the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi, Vietnam, with a history dating back more than 1500 years. The name 'Tran Quoc' in Vietnamese means 'Protecting the Country', and the pagoda is a cultural symbol of Vietnamese Buddhism. The architecture of Tran Quoc Pagoda is a harmonious blend of traditional Vietnamese and Eastern Buddhist styles. The pagoda complex includes several tiers, interconnected by covered passageways, and houses valuable ancient statues and artifacts. At its center stands a tall, slender stupa, the most prominent feature of the pagoda, visible from various points around the lake. The stupa has eleven levels, topped with a nine-story lotus and is surrounded by lush gardens. Tran Quoc Pagoda is not only a significant place for worship but also a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors who come to admire its peaceful ambiance, architectural beauty, and the panoramic view it offers of the surrounding lake.
