Best Time to Visit Veeranpuzha Lake and Backwaters, Kochi

Veeranpuzha Lake and Backwaters are a serene getaway located near Kochi in Kerala, often referred to as the 'Queen of the Arabian Sea'. The ideal time to visit Veeranpuzha is during the cooler, dry months, which span from October to February. During this period, the weather is pleasantly mild and is perfect for enjoying the backwater excursions. The monsoon season, which is from June to September, replenishes the region with lush greenery, but it can also bring heavy rains that might hamper outdoor activities and boat tours. Post monsoon, waters calm down and the weather becomes highly conducive for sightseeing and indulging in the tranquil beauty of the backwaters.

Moreover, these months cater to vibrant festivals such as Onam, which showcases splendid boat races and traditional Kerala festivities—adding value to your visit. As a visitor, you can bask in the charm of the backwaters with minimal interruption from rain, making it easier to plan day trips and excursions. It's advisable to book your stay and tours in advance as this peak travel season also attracts a large number of tourists, which could lead to limited availability of houseboats and accommodation. Additionally, visiting during the winter allows you to enjoy the cool backwaters breeze without the high humidity levels that the summer months bring.
