Best Time to Visit Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary

Located in Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India, the Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary is an area dedicated to the protection of the Gangetic dolphins, an endangered species. The best time to visit this sanctuary is during the cooler months of October to February. During this period, the weather is relatively pleasant, which makes it an ideal time for tourists to explore the sanctuary comfortably. The temperatures during these months range from about 10°C to 27°C, ensuring a comfortable environment for both the dolphins and the visitors observing them.

Additionally, the winter months are conducive for dolphin spotting, as the water levels of the Ganges River are lower, making it easier to see the dolphins. It is important to note that the sanctuary remains open for longer hours during these months, offering ample opportunities for visitors to enjoy the lush environment and the sight of the dolphins in their natural habitat. However, visitors should avoid the monsoon season, from June to September, as the sanctuary often faces high water levels and flooding, which can hinder dolphin spotting and pose challenges for travel.
