Virasat-e-Khalsa is a museum located in the holy town of Anandpur Sahib, near Chandigarh in Punjab, India. The museum celebrates 500 years of Sikh culture and the 300-year anniversary of Khalsa, the Sikh warrior community. Designed by the acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie, the museum opened its doors to the public in November 2011. The structure is a blend of contemporary design and traditional motifs. It's divided into two complexes on either side of a ravine, connected by a ceremonial bridge. The museum's galleries are equipped with state-of-the-art exhibits that use multimedia to tell the story of Punjab and Sikhism, highlighting important events and illustrating the teachings of the ten Sikh Gurus. Overlooking the scenic town and the lower Himalayan ranges, it is a harmonious balance between architecture and spirituality, drawing a large number of visitors, not just for its religious importance but also for its architectural beauty.
