How To Reach Yerevan Cascade

Reaching Yerevan Cascade in Yerevan, Armenia

The Yerevan Cascade is a giant stairway made of limestone in Yerevan, Armenia. It's one of the iconic landmarks of the city and is not only a tourist attraction but also an open-air museum of modern art. Here's how you can get there:

By Air:

For international travelers, the first step to get to the Cascade is to fly into the Zvartnots International Airport (EVN). It is located approximately 12 km west of Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

From Zvartnots International Airport:

  • Taxi: One of the most convenient ways to get from the airport to the Cascade is by taxi. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on the fare with the driver before starting your trip or use a taxi app to book your ride for a more standardized service.
  • Airport Shuttle: Some hotels provide their own airport shuttle services. Check if your accommodation offers this service as it can be a comfortable and hassle-free way to get to your destination.
  • Public Transport: You can also take a bus or a minibus (marshrutka) from the airport to the city center. This is the most economical option, but it may not be very convenient if you have a lot of luggage.

Within Yerevan:

Once in the city, reaching the Cascade is quite simple:

  • On Foot: Being centrally located, if you're staying in the city center, the Cascade is within walking distance from most parts of downtown Yerevelan.
  • By Metro: One of the nearest metro stations to the Cascade is Marshal Baghramyan station. From there, you can either take a short walk to the Cascade or hop on a bus or a taxi for a very short ride to the structure.
  • By Taxi: Taxis are quite affordable in Yerevan and readily available. You can hail one from the street or book through a ride-hailing app for convenience.
  • By Bus: Various city buses stop near the Cascade or in nearby areas, such as the Matenadaran Museum, after which it's a short walk to the Cascade.

Note that while public transport is available, the routes and schedules may vary, so it's often quicker and more predictable to take a taxi or walk if you're close by.
