Agra Fort, also known as the Red Fort of Agra, is an iconic historical fort in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638 when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city and was commissioned by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565. It’s made of red sandstone and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Within the fort's massive walls, there are a number of exquisite structures like the Jahangir Palace, Khas Mahal, Diwan-e-Khas, Diwan-e-Aam, Moti Masjid, and Shish Mahal. The fort stands as a testament to the architecture and grandeur of the Mughal era and offers a view of another important monument, the Taj Mahal, situated nearby along the banks of the River Yamuna.
