Moti Masjid stands within the Agra Fort complex in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is a 17th-century religious edifice, crafted during the Mughal era by Emperor Shah Jahan, the visionary behind the Taj Mahal. The mosque’s name, which translates to 'Pearl Mosque,' is derived from the pearly white marble from which it is constructed, which shines and glistens under sunlight. Its architectural style is a blend of Persian and Mughal influences, showcasing the intricate Islamic art and craftsmanship of the time. The mosque features a main sanctuary with seven arched openings and is flanked by two red sandstone wings. It overlooks the courtyard which houses a minimalist ablution tank. The Moti Masjid stands as an emblem of spiritual solace and its sanctified premises offer visitors a glimpse into the Mughal religious life. Traditionally used by the royal members for worship, today it remains a place of historical significance and continues to attract tourists and devotees alike.
