Akbar's Tomb, situated in Sikandra, in the suburbs of Agra, is the final resting place of the great Mughal Emperor Akbar. This significant architectural masterpiece, blending Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Christian motifs, exemplifies Akbar's philosophy of synthesizing diverse cultures. The tomb's construction started in 1605 and was completed in 1613. Its south gate is the largest, with four white marble chhatri-topped minarets similar to those of the Taj Mahal, and the tomb itself is surrounded by a beautiful, charbagh style garden. The tomb is constructed from deep red sandstone, adorned with deers, rabbits, and langurs, which are free to roam in the vicinity, adding to the serene and natural ambience. Akbar's Tomb reflects the grandeur and elegance of the Mughal architecture, and it draws tourists and historians alike.
