Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the northern part of Gujarat, India, near the Rajasthan border. Spread across 542 sq km, the sanctuary is nestled in the Aravalli range and serves as a corridor between two major protected areas: Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary in Gujarat and Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan. Established in 1989 for the conservation of endangered species and the efficient management of their habitats, it is home to a wide array of flora and fauna. The diverse habitat features dry deciduous forests, and the sanctuary is famous for its leopard population. Besides leopards, it provides shelter to other mammalian species, including sloth bears, wild boars, porcupines, Indian civet, and numerous bird species making it a birdwatcher's paradise. The sanctuary is an example of the unique biodiversity of Gujarat's habitats, drawing nature enthusiasts and researchers alike.
