Best Time to Visit Barkot, Uttarkashi

Barkot, nestled in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India, is known for its scenic beauty and as a stopover for pilgrims en route to Yamunotri, one of the four sacred Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites. The best time to visit Barkot is from April to June and again from September to November. During these months, the weather is pleasantly cool and is ideal for sightseeing and pilgrimage. The summer months, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 30°C, provide a refreshing respite from the heat of the plains. This season is also perfect for visiting nearby attractions such as Yamunotri Temple, where the trekking routes are accessible and the natural surroundings are in full bloom.

However, if you prefer serenity and fewer crowds, the post-monsoon months of September to November can be quite enchanting. The landscape is refreshed and the clear skies offer breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Although the nights become cooler, the daytime temperatures are comfortable for outdoor activities and temple visits. It is important to note that Barkot experiences heavy rainfall during the monsoon season from July to August, which can lead to roadblocks and landslides; hence, it is generally advised to avoid travel during this period. Winters, from December to February, can be extremely cold with snowfall, and many facilities might be closed, making this season less favorable for tourists.
