Kedar Tal, also known as Shiva's Lake, is a pristine glacial lake situated at an altitude of 4,750 meters in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand, India. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and steep valleys, the lake is known for its crystal-clear waters and the breathtaking view of Thalaysagar peak. The trek to Kedar Tal is considered one of the challenging trails, starting from Gangotri – a sacred pilgrimage site in Hinduism – and is roughly a 17 km trek one way. The trek path is rich in alpine vegetation and offers chances to spot high-altitude wildlife. The journey encompasses rugged terrains, boulder-strewn paths, and a largely untouched natural environment, making it an exhilarating experience for trekkers and nature enthusiasts. It's predominantly a camping trek since there are no permanent settlements post reaching the lake.
