Bimbisara Jail, also known as Bimbisar Kila, is located in Rajgir, Bihar, India. This historical site is an ancient prison where King Bimbisara was reportedly imprisoned by his son, Ajatashatru, during the latter part of his life. The jail is situated on the top of a hill and provides a panoramic view of the surroundings including the Saptparni Cave and the cyclopean walls that once protected the city. It is a place of great historical and archaeological significance and is associated with both Jainism and Buddhism, as Rajgir was a favorite place of Lord Mahavira and Lord Buddha. The jail consists of ruins which include the remains of the prison walls and cells. Despite the name, the simplicity of the site and its serene environment offers a place for quiet reflection amidst the verdant landscapes of Rajgir. It is part of the larger Rajgir heritage zone which encompasses other attractions like the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, Jain temples, and hot springs.
