The most ideal period to explore the Bodhanala Range in Pench National Park, Madhya Pradesh, India, is during the winter and early summer months, stretching from October to April. During this season, the weather is pleasantly cool and comfortable for wildlife safaris, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 16°C to a maximum of 32°C. The cooler climate not only makes the experience more enjoyable for visitors but also increases the chances of wildlife sightings, as animals are more active in moderate temperatures. Elephants, wild boars, deer, and if you are lucky enough, you might catch a glimpse of the elusive tiger. November to February is particularly preferable due to the optimal temperature and minimal rainfall.
The park usually closes during the monsoon season, from July to September, due to heavy rains that can make the safari tracks impassable. Post-monsoon, the park’s flora is lush and green, offering a beautiful backdrop for wildlife photography. While the winter months bring with them a plethora of migratory birds, making it a haven for bird watchers. March to June, although hotter can be considered a good time for those interested in spotting animals near water bodies, as the dry conditions force the wildlife to frequent these spots for hydration. Please note that as summer progresses into May and June, temperatures can soar up to 40°C, which might not be comfortable for everyone.
