The Borra Caves are located in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, India. Discovered in 1807 by William King George of the Geological Survey of India, these caves are one of the largest in the country, at an elevation of about 705 meters. They are made of Karstic limestone and have a depth of about 80 meters. Stalactite and stalagmite formations within the caves are spectacular, with some taking on recognizable shapes that have led to mythological tales and local lore. The caves feature complex structures and are lit with artificial light to showcase their natural beauty. The humongous naturally formed cave with its intricate patterns, geological significance, and the beautiful landscape around make it a popular tourist attraction, drawing both adventurers and families. A small temple of Lord Shiva and an idol of a cow (Kamadhenu) are located at the entrance of the caves.
