Indira Gandhi Zoological Park Tourism

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is nestled amidst the picturesque Eastern Ghats of India, located in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), within the state of Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1977, it covers an area of approximately 625 acres and is cradled between the Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary and the Bay of Bengal, providing a natural habitat for different flora and fauna. It is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The park is well-known for its extensive collection of exotic animals and birds, including rare species like the Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, and the Asiatic Lion. It houses around 80 species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. The zoological park is segmented into different sections for primates, carnivores, lesser carnivores, reptiles, ungulates, and avians accompanied by a well-maintained butterfly park and a small zoo museum. The zoo's serene setting amidst natural forest creates a perfect ambiance for wildlife and nature lovers.
