Submarine Museum (INS Kursura) located on the Ramakrishna Mission Beach in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), is a preserved Indian submarine, INS Kursura (S20). INS Kursura was a Soviet-built I-class submarine, commissioned into the Indian Navy on 18 December 1969, and served until decommissioned on 28 February 2001. This submarine played a vital role in the Indian Navy until she was converted into a museum in 2002. The vessel represents the pioneering submarine operations of the Indian Navy and is among the few submarine museums to retain the originality of the warcraft. INS Kursura served in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and showcased India's naval strength. The submarine museum brings visitors closer to the life and challenges faced by submariners. It is a remarkable tribute to the excellence of maritime technology and the sailors who operate these complex machines.
