Corbett Tiger Reserve, named after the renowned conservationist Jim Corbett, is one of India's most famous wildlife sanctuaries and forms part of the larger Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, India. The reserve spans over 520 square kilometers, comprising hills, riverine belts, marshy depressions, grasslands, and a large lake. It is home to a significant population of tigers as well as other wildlife including leopards, wild elephants, Indian python, deer, and numerous bird species, making it a prime destination for eco-tourism and wildlife enthusiasts. The landscape is dominated by dense moist deciduous forest with patches of grassland. This area was the first to come under the Project Tiger initiative to protect endangered Bengal tigers. Aside from game drives, visitors can engage in bird watching, elephant rides, and nature walks. The Dhikala zone offers magnificent views of the valley, with the Ramganga river meandering through it, and is a quintessential spot for photographic opportunities.
