Best Time to Visit Devalia Safari Park, Sasan Gir, Gujarat

The ideal time to visit Devalia Safari Park in Sasan Gir, Gujarat, is during the winter months from December to March. During this period, the weather is pleasant, which makes wildlife viewing more enjoyable. Temperatures range from a comfortable 10°C to 29°C, providing a respite from both the severe heat of summer and the monsoon season. Winter is also a great time to spot a variety of animals, as the cooler weather encourages them to be more active during the day. Visitors can expect to see the majestic Asiatic lions, leopards, antelopes, and numerous bird species. The park remains open to the public from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except on Wednesdays when it's closed for maintenance.

While the park is accessible throughout the year, the monsoon season, lasting from June to September, can be less ideal due to heavy rainfall. This can lead to park closures and a less comfortable safari experience. The summer months from April to June, though hot with temperatures soaring up to 42°C, can also be a good time for wildlife enthusiasts who don’t mind the heat, as the scarcity of water during this period increases the chances of sighting animals near water bodies. However, for most visitors looking for an optimal experience with amicable weather for outdoor activities and the best wildlife viewing potential, planning a trip in the winter months remains the most advisable choice.
