Devi Dol Sivasagar Tourism

Devi Dol, located in Sivasagar, Assam, is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Durga. Found in the heart of Sivasagar, the temple stands tall at around 60 feet and dates back to the 18th century. It was built by Queen Ambika, wife of King Shiva Singha, who ruled the Ahom Kingdom from 1714 to 1744. The temple is a revered spot, reflecting the architectural finesse of the Ahom dynasty. Constructed with a blend of Indigenous methods and design sensibilities, it follows the 'dol' structure, which is common in Assamese temple architecture, comprising a central chamber and crowned by a dome-shaped top. Devi Dol stands adjacent to Vishnu Dol and Shiva Dol, collectively known as the three significant temples of Sivasagar, representing the three primary forces of the universe in Hinduism.
