Khaliya Top is a serene meadow, known for its panoramic vistas, situated in the higher reaches of the Kumaon Himalayas, near the small town of Munsiyari in Uttarakhand, India. A trekker's paradise, it is perched at an elevation of around 3500 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the Panchachuli, Rajrambha, Hardeol, and Nanda Kot peaks. The trek to Khaliya Top starts from Munsiyari and is approximately a 10 km journey that takes you through dense alpine forests and vast grasslands. The path is well-marked and is considered a moderate hike, taking trekkers through enchanting landscapes and offering occasional glimpses of the region's exotic wildlife. While the trek can be completed in a day by seasoned trekkers, many prefer an overnight stay in the alpine tents or the PWD rest house at the meadow to enjoy the beautiful sunrise or sunset. The surroundings also offer opportunities for high altitude wildlife photography, bird watching, and simply revelling in the peace of the mountains.
