Maheshwari Kund, also known as Meesar Kund, is situated in the picturesque hill station of Munsiyari in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India. This serene and enigmatic kund (pond) is surrounded by lush rhododendron forests and offers spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks. The place is steeped in local lore; it is believed to be associated with a Yaksha (a mythical creature in Hindu, Jain and Buddhist literature) who fell in love with a village girl. When the love was not reciprocated, the Yaksha dried up the kund in anger. Maheshwari Kund has been restored since, and it serves as a peaceful spot for picnicking and photography. A short trek from the main town leads to the kund, making it a favored destination for trekkers and nature lovers. The trail is adorned with a diverse range of flora and alongside gorgeous vistas, making the visit an enchanting experience. A visit to Maheshwari Kund is not just a visual delight but also offers a glimpse into the region's rich cultural tapestry.
