By Air

• Fly into Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM), Kathmandu’s main airport which is well-connected with major cities around the world.
• Upon arrival, you can take a taxi directly to Kopan Monastery. The journey should take approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

By Road

• If you're already in Kathmandu, you can hire a taxi or a private vehicle to take you to Kopan. Make sure to agree on the fare before you start the trip as most taxis in Kathmandu do not use meters.
• Local buses are available from Ratna Park Bus Station, however, they might not take you all the way up to the monastery and might require a walk from the nearest bus stop.

Local Directions

• When you're close to the area, look for the direction signs, or ask locals for "Kopan Gumba", which is how the monastery is referred to in Nepali.
• The monastery is located near the famous Bouddhanath Stupa, so if you're visiting the stupa, Kopan is just a short trip further north.
