Kuthira Malika, also known as Puthen Malika, is a palace situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, India. It gets its name from the 122 wooden horses that adorn the building's facade, 'Kuthira' being the Malayalam word for 'horse' and 'Malika' meaning 'palace'. This architectural marvel was built by Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, a Maharaja of the erstwhile Kingdom of Travancore, who was also a legendary musician and a visionary in the field of arts and culture. The palace showcases the traditional Kerala architectural style with an emphasis on intricate wooden carvings and boasts of having been constructed without using a single nail. It houses numerous artefacts and treasures of the royal family including paintings, mirrors, furniture, and other exquisite pieces. The palace is also known for the revered Navarathri Mandapam where musical concerts are held during the Navarathri festival, honoring the tradition instituted by Swathi Thirunal himself.

A good collection. But definitely needs better lighting. Mainly statues and some artifacts. Easily approachable. The ticket window is on the left side of the building!

No photographs again. The staff could care less and are not interested in anything other than going home. Could be wonderful with some professional help.

When we visit the Palace, we are transformed back by 200 years and the palace is well maintained with great artifacts to see. The flooring is very good and must visit place.
