The best outing we had in the recent past
Visited Magic Planet yesterday with my family. It was the best outing we had in the recent past for sure. A well maintained theme park run for a great purpose. A must visit for kids to enjoy the world of Magic and learn the value of what we have. The 5hr of these shows make you realise how privileged you are. There are about 7 different shows ranging from mentalism, various magic forms, drama and circus. The peach of them is the magic, music, dance and art performed by differently abled children. They take you to a different world. There were about 45ppl visited the place yesterday and i am sure they carry a lot of great memories while they returned. The location is easily accessible from Thiruvananthapuram city via road. The usual show timing is 3PM to 8:30PM. They have a restaurant inside the park and you can book the dinner if you wish to. They serve it after the shows. As they can accommodate only a limited number guests, it is better to call them and make a reservation. Do reach there before 3pm and stay back until 8:30 to enjoy all the different shows.

Unique and Worthwhile
If you are in the area, definitely visit Magic Planet! Magic Planet is part "magic theme park" and part "let's support differently-abled children and makes their lives shine". Established by a famous Indian magician (Gopinath Muthukad), Magic Planet both entertains and educates. There are two sessions per day: 9:30am-3pm, and 3:30pm-9pm (ish), including pauses for lunch and dinner (food is available for purchase). As a group, all visitors are ushered between performance venues -- street magic, circus, childrens' performances, etc. There are clocks throughout the park and each performance starts strictly on schedule. While the website only says 3pm-9pm, you can actually attend the morning performances. Just turn up, or give them a phone call beforehand. (I attended the morning performances.) Performances are typically in Hindi, with a splattering of English. Frankly, this doesn't matter since magic is universal. The grounds of Magic Planet are amazing, and are the cleanest parts of India I have seen! Larger-than life figures make excellent photographs, each venue is independently themed and decorated and there is even a wonderfully-decorated garden area. While magic is the drawcard for the Park, the focus eventually shifts to the 'differently-abled' children who attend the park. The children live at home with their family as normal, but attend the park as an alternative schooling environment and they very much enjoy participating in performances and meeting visitors. A newly-opened Universal Empowerment Centre "trains differently abled children to operate in an office or business environment through specially developed methods and internships." The children participate in magic and dance performances, some of which are totally performed by the children. At the end of the performances, you will be requested to make a donation to the Different Art Centre and it is obvious that the money is used well. Magic Planet is difficult to access via public transport, so a taxi or auto is recommended.
