Lighthouse Beach is the most popular and gets its name from the old Vizhinjam Lighthouse situated on a rocky promontory here. Kovalam initially came to prominence in the 1970s when it was discovered by the hippie culture, and it has been a favorite destination for tourists ever since. The beach offers a variety of activities such as sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes, and catamaran cruising. The surrounding establishments provide a range of lodging options along with restaurants serving local and continental cuisines. Nice beach
