Napier Museum is an art and natural history museum situated in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, India. Named after Lord Napier, the Governor of Madras from 1866-1872, the museum is a gem of architectural grandeur, combining traditional Kerala, Mughal, Chinese, and Italian architectural styles. This confluence is symbolized in its gothic roof and minarets. The museum was established in 1855 and houses a rare collection of archaeological and historic artifacts, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot, and ivory carvings. It also showcases a rich collection of temple art, bronze idols, ancient ornaments, and a Japanese shadow play leather figures. Designed by Robert Chisholm, the museum is surrounded by a well-maintained zoological garden, one of the oldest in India, and the enchanting Napier Park. Its unique natural air conditioning system reflects the brilliance of traditional ventilation and cooling techniques.
