Priyadarshini Planetarium is located at the heart of Kerala's capital city, Thiruvananthapuram. Being one of the most versatile planetariums in India, it is set up within the Kerala Science and Technology Museum compound. The planetarium has been serving astronomy enthusiasts since its inauguration in 1994 and is named after the late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, widely known by the name 'Priyadarshini'. This state-of-the-art planetarium, with its sophisticated Zeiss projector, can simulate the night sky more accurately than many other planetariums in the country. It offers a fully computerized projector that can exhibit all the motions and phases of celestial bodies on a hemispherical dome. The dome, spanning an impressive 23 meters in diameter, ensures a truly immersive experience. Besides the regular sky shows, the planetarium also involves itself in serious astronomical research, making it a beacon of scientific study and education in the region. It has a decently sized seating capacity, allowing a significant number of visitors to enjoy the shows simultaneously.
